A Fabrication is inspired by the idea of operant conditioning and the research of B.F. Skinner. Viewers are encouraged to be participants by walking the plank. A digital counter tracks how many times someone does this. Rewarding this behavior is feedback projected on the ground at the end of the plank. The random feedback is one of twenty possible phrases similar to that of a fortune telling Magic Eight Ball. For those who do not want to participate, vertical shields are used as observation points and affixed with magnifying glasses in order to scrutinize the performance of others. This spectacle is also viewable by anyone walking outside on the street. The large window opposite the shields has a thin strip of clear unpainted glass at eye level like a reverse censor.
